Do you plan to replace it with anything? I took mine off. I also took the back seat off and making the bike into a single seater. Removed the passenger seat, relocated the regulator and am doing body work on the fender. I got new fender rails. If your planning on just taking the sissy bar off and using the fender rails without the sissy bar, it doesn't look so great but you can take the sissy bar off. The sissy bar screws into the fender rails. Take the fender rails off first. After you take the sissy bar off, you can bolt the fender rails back on. Word of warning. If you plan to change fender rails, be prepared to change blinkers, etc. The list goes on. All I wanted was nice fender rails and ended up changing blinkers, and drilling new bolt holes in the fender for the new fender rails. Because I was doing body work to the back fender, it really wasn't that much of a problem. Just time consuming in finding what I wanted that would fit right. I ended up using fender rails off a Kawasaki Vulcan 1500A. Limited accessories for Savage so you have to improvise. Makes it just all that more fun looking through all the parts books.
